Job Description
We are seeking enthusiastic and energetic individuals to join our team as Blackcurrant Pickers for the upcoming harvest season in Witney, Oxfordshire. This is a crucial role within our agricultural operations, directly contributing to the quality and efficiency of our blackcurrant supply. The ideal candidate will be motivated, able to work outdoors in various weather conditions, and possess a strong work ethic. No prior experience is necessary, as full training will be provided, but a willingness to learn and a positive attitude are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carefully pick blackcurrants by hand, following quality guidelines to ensure only ripe fruit is harvested.
- Place picked fruit into designated containers with care to prevent bruising or damage.
- Work efficiently and maintain a consistent pace to meet daily picking targets.
- Monitor fruit quality and report any issues or concerns to supervisors.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations on the farm.
- Work effectively as part of a team, supporting colleagues to achieve collective goals.
- Maintain a clean and tidy work area.
Required Skills
- Physical fitness and stamina for repetitive tasks and standing/bending for long periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (sun, rain, wind).
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Strong attention to detail for quality control.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in fruit picking or agricultural work is a plus, but not required.
- Access to reliable transportation to and from the farm location.
- Basic understanding of English for safety instructions.
