Job Description
We are seeking diligent and reliable Mushroom Picker Packers to join our team in Derby. This is a vital role within our controlled environment facility, ensuring the consistent harvesting and packaging of high-quality mushrooms year-round. You will be responsible for carefully picking mushrooms by hand, inspecting them for quality, and packing them efficiently according to company standards. This position requires attention to detail, a good work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Hand-picking various types of mushrooms with care to prevent damage.
- Inspecting mushrooms for quality, size, and appearance, rejecting any that do not meet standards.
- Accurately weighing and packing mushrooms into appropriate containers.
- Labelling packed products correctly for traceability and distribution.
- Adhering strictly to food safety, hygiene, and health and safety regulations at all times.
- Maintaining a clean and organised work area.
- Working effectively as part of a team to meet daily production targets.
- Reporting any equipment malfunctions or quality issues to supervisors.
Required Skills
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks with precision and speed.
- Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Ability to stand, bend, and lift light to moderate weights for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a food production, agricultural, or warehouse environment.
