Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Clinical Research Chemist to join our pioneering R&D team in Cedar Rapids. This critical role involves contributing to global pharmaceutical projects by conducting advanced chemical analyses, developing new methodologies, and ensuring the quality and integrity of data for clinical trials. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in analytical chemistry, a passion for pharmaceutical research, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. You will be instrumental in advancing our drug discovery and development pipeline, playing a direct role in bringing innovative medicines to patients worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and interpret complex analytical experiments to support clinical research and drug development.
  • Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods for the characterization of drug candidates and related substances.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of advanced analytical instruments, including HPLC, GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, NMR, and FTIR.
  • Ensure all laboratory work complies with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), FDA regulations, and company standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Analyze raw data, prepare comprehensive reports, and present findings to interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Troubleshoot analytical issues and contribute to the continuous improvement of laboratory processes.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including biologists, pharmacologists, and clinical scientists.
  • Stay abreast of current scientific literature, new technologies, and regulatory requirements in analytical and clinical chemistry.

Required Skills

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of analytical chemistry techniques (e.g., HPLC, GC, MS, NMR).
  • Proficiency in method development and validation.
  • Familiarity with GLP and FDA regulatory guidelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Experience with LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) and other data management software.
  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis software and techniques for data evaluation.
  • Experience with stability studies and impurity profiling.
