Job Description
TransPerfect is seeking highly skilled and culturally sensitive Telephonic Interpreters to join our remote team. This is a crucial role for individuals who are fluent in English and at least one other language, enabling vital communication across various industries such as healthcare, legal, and government services. As a Telephonic Interpreter, you will facilitate clear and accurate communication between parties who speak different languages, ensuring that all conversations are conveyed precisely and impartially. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from the comfort of your home while making a significant impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide accurate, impartial, and confidential interpretation services between English and your designated second language over the phone.
- Facilitate communication in diverse settings, including medical appointments, legal consultations, and general business discussions.
- Maintain strict adherence to ethical guidelines and professional standards, including confidentiality and impartiality.
- Manage the flow of communication, ensuring that all parties have the opportunity to speak and be understood.
- Remain current with terminology and cultural nuances specific to the areas of interpretation.
- Document call details accurately and efficiently as required.
Required Skills
- Native or near-native fluency in English and at least one other language (e.g., Spanish, Mandarin, Arabic, Russian, French, Vietnamese, Korean, etc.).
- Exceptional listening and communication skills.
- Strong ability to concentrate and perform accurately under pressure.
- Excellent memory retention and note-taking abilities.
- Cultural sensitivity and an understanding of diverse cultural contexts.
- Proficiency with computer systems, high-speed internet, and telephonic equipment.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a professional interpreter (telephonic, in-person, or virtual).
- Certification in interpretation (e.g., medical interpreter certification, court interpreter certification).
- Experience in specific subject matter areas such as medical, legal, or financial interpretation.
- Familiarity with interpreting software and platforms.
