Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Flavor & Fragrance Chemist with a strong focus on Sensory Science to join our innovative team in Shawnee, Oklahoma. This is a unique opportunity for a talented chemist to apply their expertise in a top-tier role, contributing to the development of groundbreaking flavors and fragrances that delight consumers globally. The successful candidate will be instrumental in bridging the gap between chemical formulation and sensory perception, utilizing advanced analytical techniques and a deep understanding of sensory evaluation to optimize product performance. This role offers ‘Top Pay’ commensurate with experience and impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and optimize flavor and fragrance compounds for various applications (e.g., food, beverage, personal care, home care).
- Lead sensory evaluation panels and interpret data to guide formulation adjustments and product improvements.
- Conduct in-depth chemical analysis using GC-MS, HPLC, and other analytical instruments to characterize raw materials and finished products.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with perfumers, flavorists, sensory scientists, and marketing teams to meet project objectives.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory requirements in flavor and fragrance chemistry.
- Develop and implement new analytical methods for aroma chemical identification and quantification.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior chemists and technicians.
Required Skills
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science, or a related field (Master's degree with extensive experience considered).
- Minimum of 4 years of industrial experience in flavor or fragrance development.
- Demonstrated expertise in sensory science principles and their application to product development.
- Proficiency in analytical techniques such as GC-MS, HPLC, NMR, and IR spectroscopy.
- Strong understanding of organic synthesis and natural product chemistry relevant to F&F.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and a data-driven approach to formulation.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with flavor and fragrance regulatory affairs (e.g., FEMA, IFRA).
- Familiarity with computational chemistry tools for molecular design.
- Previous experience leading R&D projects or small teams.
- Publications or patents in the field of flavor, fragrance, or sensory science.
