Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Crane Operator to join our dynamic construction team in South Philadelphia. This crucial role involves operating various types of cranes to lift, move, and position heavy materials and equipment on large-scale infrastructure and building projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety protocols, operational efficiency, and teamwork. Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of cranes (e.g., mobile, tower, crawler) safely and efficiently to lift, move, and place materials and equipment.
- Perform daily pre-operation inspections of cranes and lifting gear, reporting any defects or malfunctions immediately.
- Adhere strictly to all site safety regulations, company policies, and national operating standards.
- Communicate effectively with ground crews, riggers, and project managers using hand signals, radios, and other communication methods.
- Maintain accurate logbooks and records of crane operations, including inspections and maintenance.
- Assist in the setup and dismantling of cranes as required.
- Ensure proper maintenance and cleanliness of the crane and associated equipment.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings.
Required Skills
- Valid NCCCO (National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators) certification or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of verifiable experience operating heavy cranes in a construction or industrial environment.
- Thorough knowledge of crane operations, rigging techniques, and load capacities.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices related to crane operation.
- Ability to read and interpret load charts, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination, depth perception, and spatial awareness.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Physical ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple types of cranes (e.g., hydraulic, lattice boom, tower cranes).
- OSHA 10 or 30-hour certification.
- Experience working on large-scale public infrastructure projects.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
