Job Description
Join DHL Supply Chain as a Distribution Picker, primarily based at our Aston, Birmingham depot. In this vital role, you will be responsible for accurately picking and preparing orders. While your primary base will be Aston, Birmingham, a key aspect of your role involves supporting the efficient flow of goods destined for our North West Liverpool and Manchester hubs. You will ensure timely and efficient movement of goods, maintaining high standards of safety and operational efficiency within our central distribution processes. This is an on-site, physically active role essential to our supply chain operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately pick and pack goods according to order specifications and dispatch deadlines.
- Operate various warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet trucks, order pickers, handheld scanners) safely and efficiently.
- Perform quality checks on picked items to ensure accuracy, integrity, and to prevent damage.
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring proper handling and securing of all products.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, adhering to 5S principles.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, company policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and general warehouse duties as required.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimise workflow and achieve daily targets.
Required Skills
- Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or distribution environment (at least 6 months).
- Proven ability to accurately follow instructions and pick orders efficiently.
- Good physical fitness and ability to lift and move heavy items repeatedly (up to 25kg).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Basic numeracy and literacy skills for reading labels and completing documentation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Valid Forklift (FLT) or Low-Level Order Picker (LLOP) licence (reach/counterbalance preferred).
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and handheld scanning devices.
- Basic computer literacy for data entry and system navigation.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures specific to a warehouse setting.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced logistics environment.
