Job Description

The Kentucky Department for Public Health is seeking a diligent and organized State Government Warehouse Clerk to join our team in Louisville, KY. This critical full-time, on-site role supports the efficient storage, inventory management, and distribution of public sector benefits and essential supplies to communities across the Commonwealth. The ideal candidate will be responsible for a variety of warehouse operations, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of resources. This position offers an opportunity to contribute directly to public service and community well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive, unload, and stock incoming shipments of public sector benefit supplies and materials.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records using manual and computerized systems.
  • Prepare and process outgoing orders for distribution, including picking, packing, and labeling items.
  • Operate warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and hand trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct regular inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Ensure the warehouse is clean, organized, and compliant with safety regulations.
  • Assist with loading and unloading delivery vehicles.
  • Collaborate with team members to optimize warehouse operations and distribution processes.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs repeatedly.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Basic math skills for inventory counting.
  • Valid Kentucky Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (6-12 months) in a warehouse, logistics, or inventory management role.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software.
  • Experience operating forklifts or other warehouse machinery (certification a plus).
  • High School Diploma or GED.
