Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and professional Hot Shot Truckers to join our high-demand team in Memphis, TN. This role is crucial for expediting urgent and time-sensitive freight deliveries across various distances. As a Hot Shot Trucker, you will be responsible for transporting critical loads with smaller, agile vehicles, ensuring rapid and secure delivery to meet customer expectations. Key Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles (typically Class 3-5 trucks with trailers) safely and efficiently for urgent deliveries.
- Transport diverse cargo, often including time-sensitive materials, machinery parts, or specialized equipment.
- Plan and execute routes efficiently to ensure timely delivery, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and trailers, ensuring all equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit, utilizing appropriate strapping and tie-down techniques.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding load status, potential delays, or issues.
- Maintain accurate driving logs, delivery records, and all required documentation.
- Adhere to all company policies, safety standards, and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service during pickups and deliveries, representing FedEx Express professionally.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A or B CDL (Commercial Driver's License)
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience, preferably in hot shot, expedited, or LTL freight.
- Clean driving record with no major violations.
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Proficient in securing various types of cargo.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage routes efficiently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Familiarity with the Memphis metro area and surrounding regional routes.
- Hazardous materials (HazMat) endorsement.
- Tanker endorsement.
