Job Description
Join the City of Santa Clarita Public Works Department as an 18 Year Old Teens City Maintenance Hand! This is an excellent ongoing opportunity for young adults looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in public service and contribute directly to the upkeep of our beautiful city. You will be an integral part of our team, performing various maintenance tasks that ensure the city’s infrastructure and public spaces remain in top condition. This role is ideal for individuals eager to learn, work outdoors, and make a tangible difference in their community. Full training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior maintenance staff with general upkeep of city parks, facilities, and public spaces.
- Perform basic landscaping tasks including weeding, watering, and minor planting.
- Conduct litter removal and general site cleanup in designated areas.
- Support in the maintenance and minor repairs of public amenities such as benches, signs, and fences.
- Operate hand tools and basic power tools under supervision.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines during work activities.
- Report any identified maintenance issues or hazards to supervisors promptly.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions as required.
Required Skills
- Must be 18 years of age.
- Ability to perform physical labor, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Strong work ethic and reliability.
- Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
- Valid California Driver's License or ability to obtain one within a specified timeframe (for certain tasks).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in landscaping, general labor, or volunteer work.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools.
