Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Stratigraphy Analyst to join our dynamic geoscience team with a strong focus on the energy sector. This role is critical for interpreting subsurface geological data to identify and evaluate potential hydrocarbon reservoirs, unconventional resource plays, and carbon sequestration opportunities. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in optimizing exploration and production strategies, contributing directly to project success and energy resource development. This is a high-impact position for an individual passionate about geological challenges and innovative solutions within a leading global energy corporation.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret seismic, well log, core, and outcrop data to construct detailed stratigraphic frameworks and depositional models.
- Perform basin analysis, sequence stratigraphic interpretations, and facies mapping to identify prospective exploration targets.
- Utilize advanced geological software (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace) for 3D subsurface modeling and data visualization.
- Integrate stratigraphic interpretations with structural geology, petrophysics, and reservoir engineering data.
- Generate comprehensive geological reports, cross-sections, and maps to communicate findings to multidisciplinary teams.
- Participate in regional studies, prospect generation, and field development planning.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, methodologies, and industry best practices in stratigraphy and sedimentology.
- Mentor junior geoscientists and contribute to a collaborative, knowledge-sharing environment.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Earth Sciences, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in stratigraphic interpretation within the energy industry.
- Proficiency in sequence stratigraphy, seismic stratigraphy, and depositional systems analysis.
- Demonstrated expertise with industry-standard geological software packages (e.g., Petrel, DecisionSpace).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and presentations.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's or Ph.D. in Geology, Geophysics, or a related field.
- Experience with unconventional resource plays (shale, tight gas) and carbon capture & storage (CCS) projects.
- Field experience in geological mapping and sedimentological studies.
- Familiarity with programming languages (e.g., Python, R) for data analysis and automation.
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals or presentations at industry conferences.
