Job Description

Fraser Health Authority is seeking compassionate and dedicated individuals to join our team as Entry Level Hospital Orderlies. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain invaluable experience in a dynamic hospital setting, providing essential support to patients and clinical staff. As an Orderly, you will play a crucial role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and the smooth operation of our facilities. We provide comprehensive training to equip you with the skills needed to succeed in this vital role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport patients safely and comfortably by stretcher, wheelchair, or bed to various departments within the hospital.
  • Assist patients with mobility, transferring them to and from beds, chairs, and examination tables.
  • Provide basic patient care support under the direction of nursing staff, such as assisting with feeding, personal hygiene, and dressing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff, including tidying patient rooms and common areas.
  • Stock and replenish supplies in patient rooms and treatment areas.
  • Respond to patient calls and requests in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with setting up and dismantling equipment as needed.
  • Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and safety regulations.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Compassionate and empathetic demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, pushing, and pulling (with assistance as required).
  • Basic understanding of health and safety principles.
  • Ability to learn and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
  • No prior experience required; comprehensive training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or caregiving role (volunteer or paid).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to speak multiple languages.
