Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and innovative Adhesives Chemist with a strong focus on product development to join our dynamic R&D team in Pasadena, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for leading the design, synthesis, and characterization of novel adhesive formulations. You will drive projects from concept through commercialization, working closely with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, sales, and marketing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge adhesive technology and make a significant impact on our product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the research, development, and optimization of new adhesive formulations for various applications.
  • Conduct laboratory experiments, synthesize new materials, and characterize their physical and chemical properties.
  • Utilize advanced analytical techniques to understand adhesive performance and failure mechanisms.
  • Manage multiple product development projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery within budget.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality) and external partners (suppliers, customers).
  • Prepare detailed technical reports, presentations, and patent applications.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscape.
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols and regulatory standards.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or Master's in Polymer Science, Organic Chemistry, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in adhesives formulation and product development.
  • Strong understanding of polymer chemistry, rheology, and surface science.
  • Proven track record of successful product launch and commercialization.
  • Proficiency in various analytical techniques (e.g., FTIR, DSC, DMA, TGA, SEM).
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with UV-curable adhesives, hot melt adhesives, or pressure sensitive adhesives.
  • Knowledge of statistical experimental design (DOE) and data analysis.
  • Prior experience working in an industrial R&D setting.
  • Patent authorship or publication record in relevant fields.
