Job Description

Tetra Tech is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Entry Level Mitigation Monitor to join our team in Santa Clarita, California. This is an immediate hire opportunity for individuals passionate about environmental protection and compliance. The Mitigation Monitor will play a crucial role in ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and project-specific mitigation measures on various construction and development sites. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on-site monitoring of construction activities to ensure compliance with environmental permits, regulations, and mitigation plans.
  • Document observations, including site conditions, activity progress, and any deviations from environmental requirements.
  • Prepare daily field reports, photographic logs, and other documentation accurately and efficiently.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers, construction crews, and regulatory agencies regarding environmental compliance.
  • Assist in identifying potential environmental impacts and recommend appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Participate in site visits and inspections, often in varying weather conditions and uneven terrain.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of local, state, and federal environmental regulations (e.g., CEQA, NEPA).
  • Operate and maintain field equipment safely and responsibly.
  • Attend project meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions related to environmental issues.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and environmental documents.
  • Physical ability to perform field duties, including walking, standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Conservation, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of construction practices.
  • Familiarity with environmental monitoring protocols.
  • Experience with GPS or other mapping technologies.
  • OSHA 10-hour or 30-hour Construction Safety certification.
