Job Description
Are you a highly motivated individual eager to kickstart your career in accounting? Deloitte is seeking a Virtual Bookkeeper Junior to join our dynamic team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an entry-level professional to learn essential accounting software and gain practical experience in a supportive, remote environment. You will work closely with senior bookkeepers and accountants, providing critical support for client accounts, ensuring accuracy, and contributing to efficient financial operations. We are looking for someone with a keen eye for detail, a strong willingness to learn, and excellent organizational skills. This is a 100% remote position, offering flexibility and the chance to develop valuable skills from anywhere in Canada.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with data entry and maintenance of financial records in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero).
- Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Prepare and organize financial documents, including invoices, receipts, and expense reports.
- Support senior bookkeepers with month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients regarding financial inquiries.
- Learn and adapt to new accounting software and processes as required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all client financial information.
- Perform other administrative and bookkeeping tasks as assigned.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to learn new software quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Reliable internet connection and a dedicated home office space.
Preferred Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field (e.g., diploma, certificate).
- Prior experience (even voluntary) with basic bookkeeping principles or data entry.
- Familiarity with any accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) is a plus, but not required.
- Demonstrated passion for finance and a desire for continuous learning.
