Job Description

Kaiser Permanente in Oakland is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Student Receptionist Assistant to join our professional medical office team. This part-time role offers an excellent opportunity for a student to gain valuable experience in a healthcare setting, supporting daily operations and providing exceptional service to patients and staff. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring a smooth and efficient front desk experience, contributing to a positive patient journey while developing professional skills in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems, screen calls, and direct inquiries appropriately.
  • Schedule and confirm patient appointments, manage calendars, and update patient information.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying insurance details and collecting co-payments.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the reception area and waiting room.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and electronic communications.
  • Provide administrative support to medical staff as needed, including filing, scanning, and data entry.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations at all times.

Required Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy environment.
