Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled GC-MS Analyst to join our high-precision laboratory team in Columbus, Ohio. This role is crucial for executing complex analytical tests using Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) instrumentation to support various client projects, primarily within environmental, food, or pharmaceutical testing. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in analytical chemistry, a meticulous approach to laboratory work, and a commitment to data integrity. Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and non-routine analysis of samples using GC-MS instrumentation according to established SOPs and methodologies.
- Develop, validate, and optimize GC-MS methods for various matrices and analytes.
- Interpret, evaluate, and report analytical results, ensuring accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
- Conduct instrument calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of GC-MS systems.
- Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory records, logbooks, and documentation.
- Adhere to strict quality control procedures, safety regulations, and good laboratory practices (GLP).
- Participate in laboratory investigations, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project deadlines and client requirements.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience with GC-MS operation, data acquisition, and interpretation.
- Proficiency in chromatographic software (e.g., ChemStation, Xcalibur, MassHunter).
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry principles, including separation science and mass spectrometry.
- Experience with sample preparation techniques for GC-MS analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow complex protocols precisely.
- Solid problem-solving and troubleshooting skills related to instrumentation and methods.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced laboratory environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Experience in a GLP/ISO 17025 accredited laboratory environment.
- Prior experience with method development and validation.
- Knowledge of environmental, food safety, or pharmaceutical regulatory guidelines.
