Job Description
Join Netflix as a Network Monitor, specializing in night shift operations from the comfort of your home. Key Responsibilities
- Proactively monitor network performance and health across all Netflix services and infrastructure during assigned night shifts.
- Respond to and resolve network alerts and incidents in real-time, escalating complex issues to senior engineers as needed.
- Perform initial triage and diagnosis of network problems, utilizing a variety of monitoring tools and diagnostic techniques.
- Document all incidents, resolutions, and operational procedures accurately and thoroughly.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective communication during outages and maintenance activities.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of monitoring tools, alert thresholds, and operational processes.
- Maintain a deep understanding of network topology, protocols, and services relevant to Netflix's infrastructure.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in network monitoring tools (e.g., Nagios, Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana).
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, BGP, OSPF, and other core networking protocols.
- Experience with command-line interfaces (CLI) for network devices (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and efficiently in a remote, night shift environment.
- Demonstrated ability to react quickly and calmly under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent certification.
- Experience with cloud networking concepts (AWS, GCP, Azure).
- Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation.
- Prior experience in a NOC (Network Operations Center) or similar role.
