Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Student Site Assistant to join our construction project team in Wesley Chapel, Florida. This part-time role is ideal for a student currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, looking to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic construction environment. You will support site operations, assist project managers, and learn critical aspects of construction project delivery from the ground up. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply academic knowledge in a real-world setting and build a foundational understanding for a successful career in the construction industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist site supervisors and project managers with daily operational tasks.
- Help maintain project documentation, including daily reports, progress logs, and safety records.
- Support material procurement and inventory tracking on site.
- Observe and learn about site safety protocols and quality control procedures.
- Assist with site organization, material handling, and general administrative duties as needed.
- Participate in site meetings and contribute to problem-solving discussions.
- Shadow various trades and project team members to understand different aspects of construction project execution.
Required Skills
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
- Basic understanding of construction principles or a strong willingness to learn.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Reliable transportation to the job site in Wesley Chapel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a construction-related environment (e.g., volunteer work, summer job).
- Familiarity with construction project management software (e.g., Procore, Primavera P6) is a plus.
- OSHA 10-hour construction certification.
- Ability to read and interpret basic construction drawings and specifications.
