Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Logging Truck Driver to join our team for regional forestry operations. This role is crucial for the timely and safe transport of timber from various logging sites to processing mills and storage facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating large logging trucks, adhering to strict safety protocols, and ensuring efficient logistics within designated routes. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate logging trucks safely and efficiently, transporting timber from logging sites to designated destinations.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
  • Secure loads properly using chains, binders, and other equipment to prevent shifting or falling during transit.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and company regulations regarding vehicle operation, load limits, and safety standards.
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch, logging crews, and mill personnel to ensure smooth operations.
  • Maintain accurate logbooks, mileage reports, and other required documentation.
  • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of trucks and trailers as needed.
  • Navigate challenging terrain and weather conditions in logging environments.
  • Assist with loading and unloading activities when necessary.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a logging truck driver or heavy haul driver.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of DOT regulations and safety procedures.
  • Ability to operate manual transmissions.
  • Proficiency in securing various types of timber loads.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude for routine vehicle inspections and minor repairs.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with different types of logging equipment (e.g., self-loaders, log trailers).
  • Familiarity with regional forestry roads and terrain in Arizona and surrounding states.
  • Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
  • Certification in first aid and CPR.
