Job Description
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Middle School Band Director to lead our instrumental music program. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop a love for music, build strong foundational skills, and achieve high levels of musical performance. This role involves teaching various levels of band, managing an equipment budget, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The director will be responsible for curriculum development, rehearsal planning, concert organization, and instrumental maintenance. A strong commitment to student success and community engagement is essential. This is an on-site position requiring daily presence at our Orem campus.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive middle school band curriculum.
- Conduct daily rehearsals for various band levels (e.g., beginning, intermediate, advanced).
- Organize and direct school concerts, festivals, and other performance opportunities.
- Manage and maintain band instruments, equipment, and the music library.
- Oversee and strategically utilize the annual equipment budget.
- Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Collaborate with other music educators and school staff.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration.
- Recruit and retain students in the band program.
- Participate in school-wide events and professional development activities.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in directing concert bands and teaching instrumental music.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and pedagogy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage and motivate middle school students.
- Experience with budget management and equipment inventory.
- Organizational skills for event planning and curriculum development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Music Education or a related field.
- Current Utah educator license with a music endorsement.
- Experience with diverse musical instruments and ensembles.
- Proven track record of successful student performances and program growth.
- Familiarity with modern music education technologies.
