Job Description
The Utah Foundation is seeking a dedicated and analytical Non-Partisan Policy Aide to join our team in St. George. This role is crucial for supporting our mission to provide objective research and promote bipartisan solutions to critical issues facing Utah. The Policy Aide will assist in research, data analysis, report writing, and outreach efforts, with a particular emphasis on fostering collaboration and finding common ground across political divides. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual passionate about public policy and committed to non-partisan, evidence-based solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough research on various public policy issues relevant to Utah, including economic, social, and environmental topics.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to support research projects and policy recommendations.
- Assist in drafting research reports, policy briefs, presentations, and other communication materials for diverse audiences.
- Support outreach and engagement efforts with community leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to promote understanding and collaboration.
- Monitor legislative developments and policy debates at the state and local levels.
- Help organize and facilitate meetings, workshops, and public forums focused on bipartisan consensus-building.
- Maintain organized records of research materials, data, and communications.
- Collaborate effectively with team members on ongoing projects and initiatives.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Economics, Sociology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize complex information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience in technical and non-technical writing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commitment to non-partisanship and objective, data-driven analysis.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Previous experience (internship or professional) in policy research, legislative affairs, or a non-profit setting.
- Familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, Stata) or data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of Utah's political landscape and key policy issues.
- Experience with stakeholder engagement or community outreach.
