Job Description

We are seeking highly skilled and adaptable Registered Nurses to join our Float Pool at Providence St. Patrick Hospital. This is an exciting opportunity for nurses who thrive in dynamic environments and wish to expand their clinical expertise across multiple specialties. As a Float Pool Nurse, you will provide comprehensive patient care to a diverse patient population, moving between various units such as Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, ICU, and Emergency Department, based on staffing needs. This role offers an increased base pay in recognition of the critical flexibility and broad skill set required. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient conditions according to hospital policies and standards of practice.
  • Float to various nursing units based on organizational needs, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to different patient populations and unit protocols.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring for effectiveness and potential side effects.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and revise individualized care plans.
  • Educate patients and their families on health conditions, medications, and self-care techniques.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records and documentation.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Act as a resource and mentor for new staff members and students.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and professional development activities.

Required Skills

  • Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Montana
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care hospital experience in a diverse unit setting
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing environments and prioritize patient needs effectively
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Experience in multiple specialties (e.g., Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, ICU, ED)
  • Professional certifications relevant to nursing specialties (e.g., CCRN, CEN)
