Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room (OR) Nurse to join our surgical team in Scottsdale, AZ. This is a critical role focusing on surgical suite operations, requiring an experienced professional committed to delivering exceptional patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess strong clinical acumen, and work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes. This position offers a high salary commensurate with experience and expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patient condition prior to surgery, ensuring all pre-operative protocols are met and documented.
- Prepare the operating room with all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies, ensuring sterility and functionality.
- Assist the surgical team during procedures by anticipating needs, passing instruments, and maintaining a sterile field.
- Monitor patient vital signs and overall condition throughout the surgical procedure, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Administer medications as directed by physicians and document all care meticulously.
- Provide post-operative care and education to patients, ensuring a smooth transition to recovery.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, including patient safety and infection control.
- Participate in continuing education and professional development to stay current with surgical best practices.
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic health records (EHR) for all patients.
Required Skills
- Current unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in Arizona.
- Minimum of 3 years of recent experience as an Operating Room (OR) Nurse.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications.
- Demonstrated expertise in sterile technique and surgical assisting.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering teamwork.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced surgical environment.
- Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
- Experience with a variety of surgical specialties (e.g., general, orthopedics, neuro, cardiovascular).
- Familiarity with robotic-assisted surgical systems.
- Experience in a Level I Trauma Center.
