Job Description

Join AdventHealth as a Weekend Patient Sitter and play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and comfort of our patients. This low-stress, part-time position is ideal for compassionate individuals looking to contribute to a healthcare environment without prior extensive experience. You will provide continuous observation for patients requiring close monitoring, helping to prevent falls, self-harm, or other adverse events. This role offers flexible weekend hours, making it perfect for those seeking to balance work with other commitments while making a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous direct observation of assigned patients to ensure their safety and well-being.
  • Maintain a calm and reassuring presence, communicating with patients as appropriate.
  • Alert nursing staff immediately to any changes in patient condition, behavior, or safety concerns.
  • Document observations accurately and timely, as per hospital policy.
  • Assist patients with non-medical needs such as positioning, comfort measures, and fetching items within reach, under the direction of nursing staff.
  • Adhere strictly to all hospital policies, procedures, and patient confidentiality guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized immediate patient environment.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor
  • Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods
  • Reliable and punctual attendance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a healthcare or direct patient care setting (volunteer or paid)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
