Job Description

Join the Leon’s Furniture delivery team as a Furniture Delivery Porter (Mate) in Chatham, Ontario! This is a physically demanding role perfect for individuals who enjoy hands-on work, teamwork, and providing excellent customer service. As a Porter, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our customers receive their furniture safely and efficiently, often working alongside a driver. You will be responsible for loading, unloading, and assembling furniture, as well as interacting directly with customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the delivery driver with loading and unloading furniture from delivery trucks safely and efficiently.
  • Carefully transport furniture into customers' homes or businesses, navigating tight spaces and various stair configurations.
  • Assemble furniture items according to manufacturer instructions at the delivery location.
  • Inspect furniture for any damages before and after delivery, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Provide friendly and professional customer service, answering questions and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Handle delivery paperwork accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines and traffic laws during deliveries.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including the delivery truck.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the delivery operations.

Required Skills

  • Ability to lift and move heavy furniture items repeatedly (up to 75 lbs individually, more with assistance).
  • Strong physical stamina and endurance.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Customer service-oriented with a polite and helpful demeanor.
  • Attention to detail to prevent damage to products and property.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in furniture delivery, moving, or a similar physically demanding role.
  • Familiarity with furniture assembly tools and techniques.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
