Job Description
Are you a budding photographer eager to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced commercial environment? Sainsbury’s Argos is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Commercial Photography Assistant Intern to join our dynamic studio team in Peterborough. This internship offers a unique opportunity to learn the ropes of commercial product photography, from studio setup and lighting to image post-production and asset management. You’ll work alongside experienced photographers and stylists, contributing to high-quality visual content that drives our retail success. This is an entry-level position perfect for someone passionate about photography and ready to kickstart their career.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior photographers with studio setup, including lighting, backdrops, and props.
- Help prepare products for shoots, ensuring they are clean, styled, and presented correctly.
- Support photographers during shoots by managing equipment, arranging products, and taking notes.
- Learn and assist with basic image processing, culling, and file management.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the photography studio and equipment.
- Assist with packing and unpacking products for shoots and managing inventory.
- Undertake administrative tasks related to photo shoots, such as scheduling and communication.
- Shadow and learn from experienced professionals across various stages of the commercial photography workflow.
Required Skills
- Basic understanding of photography principles and techniques.
- Proficiency in basic photo editing software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to lift and move photography equipment and products as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a photography, art, or design-related program.
- Prior experience with studio lighting equipment (even if basic).
- A portfolio showcasing personal photography projects (can include non-commercial work).
- Familiarity with various camera systems (DSLR/Mirrorless).
