Job Description

Join UPS as an Ambulance Driver, playing a critical role in facility medical support. This position is vital for ensuring the safe and timely transport of personnel, equipment, or non-emergency patients within or between UPS facilities as needed. You will be responsible for operating an ambulance vehicle, maintaining its readiness, and providing basic medical assistance under supervision. This role requires a strong commitment to safety protocols and an understanding of medical transport procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain an ambulance vehicle safely and efficiently.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the ambulance and its medical equipment.
  • Ensure the ambulance is stocked with necessary supplies and equipment, reporting any deficiencies.
  • Transport personnel, equipment, or non-emergency patients as directed, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
  • Assist medical staff with loading and unloading patients or equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of vehicle maintenance, mileage, and transport logs.
  • Respond to medical support requests promptly and professionally.
  • Adhere to all relevant medical privacy and confidentiality regulations (e.g., HIPAA).

Required Skills

  • Valid Driver's License (Class E or equivalent with clean driving record).
  • Current EMT-Basic or Paramedic certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a medical transport or emergency services role.
  • Ability to lift and move patients or heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs unassisted).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of local traffic laws and routes in Tallahassee.
  • Ability to remain calm and effective in stressful situations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
  • Experience with GPS and navigation systems.
  • Previous experience working in a corporate or industrial medical support setting.
  • High School Diploma or GED; advanced education in emergency medical services preferred.
