Job Description
Join Optum as an Administrative Scribe, a vital remote role supporting our healthcare professionals across the United States. In this position, you will utilize your exceptional listening and typing skills to accurately document patient encounters, medical histories, and treatment plans in real-time. Key Responsibilities
- Accurately document patient medical encounters, physical exams, and other clinical information in electronic health records (EHR) in real-time.
- Transcribe physician notes, orders, and diagnostic test results with precision and speed.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and company policies.
- Assist healthcare providers with administrative tasks as needed, ensuring smooth workflow.
- Clarify discrepancies or missing information with providers to ensure complete and accurate documentation.
- Learn and adapt to various medical specialties and terminology.
- Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities.
Required Skills
- Exceptional typing speed and accuracy (minimum 60 WPM).
- Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent active listening and communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
- High level of discretion and understanding of patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office space.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a medical scribe or in a similar administrative support role in healthcare.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and common medical procedures.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Experience with teleconferencing and collaboration tools.
- Bilingual proficiency (especially Spanish) is a plus.
