Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Prior Authorization Tech to join our remote team. In this fully remote role, you will be responsible for obtaining and verifying insurance authorizations for medical services, ensuring timely patient care, and reducing claim denials. This position requires strong organizational skills, excellent communication, and a solid understanding of medical terminology and insurance processes. You will play a crucial role in the patient journey by facilitating access to necessary treatments and services.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain prior authorizations from insurance companies for various medical procedures, tests, and medications.
- Verify patient insurance coverage and benefits to ensure services are covered.
- Communicate effectively with physician offices, patients, and insurance companies regarding authorization status.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all authorization requests and outcomes.
- Review medical documentation to ensure it supports the necessity of requested services.
- Identify and resolve issues related to authorization denials or delays.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to gather necessary documentation for authorization submissions.
- Manage a high volume of authorization requests efficiently and accurately.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in medical terminology and coding (ICD-10, CPT).
- Strong understanding of health insurance plans, benefits, and authorization processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in healthcare administration or a related field.
- Certification in medical billing and coding (e.g., CPC, CCS).
- Experience with specific HCA Healthcare systems or platforms.
- Previous experience in a remote healthcare role.
