Job Description
Are you a passionate tech enthusiast with a knack for assembling and optimizing custom PCs? Currys is seeking a detail-oriented Custom PC Builder to join our team in Peterborough. This gig is perfect for individuals who love getting hands-on with hardware, solving technical puzzles, and helping customers bring their dream machines to life. You’ll be responsible for building high-performance systems from the ground up, ensuring every component is perfectly integrated and rigorously tested. Key Responsibilities
- Assemble custom PC systems with precision, following specific customer specifications and build guides.
- Install and configure operating systems, drivers, and essential software.
- Perform rigorous diagnostic testing to ensure stability, performance, and functionality of all components.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently.
- Manage and organize PC components inventory.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
- Provide clear and concise technical explanations to team members and, occasionally, customers.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in assembling custom desktop PCs.
- Comprehensive knowledge of PC hardware components (CPUs, GPUs, motherboards, RAM, storage, PSUs, cooling solutions).
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software conflicts.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+).
- Experience with various operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their installation processes.
- Familiarity with liquid cooling installation and configuration.
- Previous experience in a retail or customer service environment involving technical products.
- A portfolio or examples of previous PC builds.
