Job Description

As a Science & Tech Policy Aide, you will play a crucial role in supporting Lockheed Martin’s engagement with innovation policy and NASA-related initiatives. This position involves assisting in the analysis of science and technology policy, preparing briefings and reports, and facilitating communication between internal teams and external stakeholders, including government agencies and research institutions. The ideal candidate will have a passion for space exploration, technological advancement, and public policy, with a strong ability to conduct research and synthesize complex information.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct research and analysis on current and emerging science and technology policies, with a specific focus on space policy and NASA programs.
  • Assist in the preparation of policy briefs, white papers, presentations, and reports for internal and external audiences.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments pertinent to aerospace, defense, and space sectors.
  • Support stakeholder engagement activities, including scheduling meetings, preparing background materials, and drafting correspondence with government officials, industry partners, and academic institutions.
  • Coordinate internal communication among various departments regarding policy updates and strategic initiatives related to innovation and NASA support.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for policy-related meetings, events, and projects.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic recommendations based on policy analysis and industry trends.

Required Skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research and analytical capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear and concise summaries.
  • Understanding of U.S. government legislative processes and federal agencies, particularly NASA.
  • Demonstrated interest in science, technology, aerospace, or public policy.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Engineering, or a related scientific or technical field.
  • Previous internship or professional experience in a government agency, think tank, congressional office, or aerospace/defense industry.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools and methodologies.
  • Project management skills.
