Do you love helping others discover the perfect gear for their next adventure? REI Co-op is looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our team as an Outfitter specializing in outdoor and camping gear. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for our customers, providing exceptional service and product recommendations across our extensive range of camping, hiking, and outdoor adventure gear. We believe in getting outside and helping others do the same, and as an Outfitter, you’ll be at the forefront of that mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice and personalized recommendations to customers on outdoor and camping gear.
- Engage customers in conversations to understand their needs and guide them through product selections.
- Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, including returns and exchanges.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and visually appealing sales floor, ensuring products are well-stocked and merchandised.
- Educate customers on product features, benefits, and proper usage.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and innovations in outdoor and camping equipment.
- Actively participate in store meetings and training sessions to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers and colleagues.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- A strong passion for the outdoors, camping, hiking, and related activities.
- Ability to quickly learn and retain product knowledge across a wide range of gear.
- Proven ability to provide exceptional customer service in a retail environment.
- Basic computer proficiency for point-of-sale systems.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail sales role, particularly with outdoor or sporting goods.
- Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of various camping and outdoor gear, brands, and technologies.
- Experience with visual merchandising and inventory management.
