Job Description

Join the compassionate team at Lourdes Health as a Weekend Patient Sitter. This vital, part-time role provides essential support by monitoring patients who may be at risk of falls, self-harm, or other safety concerns. As a Patient Sitter, you will offer a calm and reassuring presence, ensuring patient safety and contributing to a positive healing environment. This is a low-stress position ideal for individuals seeking meaningful work on weekends, with no prior experience required. You will receive comprehensive training to confidently perform your duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide continuous, direct observation of assigned patients, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Report any changes in patient condition, behavior, or safety concerns immediately to nursing staff.
  • Maintain a calm, supportive, and non-judgmental presence with patients.
  • Engage patients in non-clinical activities as appropriate, such as reading or conversation.
  • Assist patients with basic needs such as retrieving items within reach, under the direction of nursing staff.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality (HIPAA).
  • Document observations accurately and timely as per hospital guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized patient environment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Patience, empathy, and a compassionate demeanor.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused for extended periods.
  • Basic computer literacy for documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Previous experience in a healthcare or customer service setting (not required, but a plus).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (can be obtained after hire).
