Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Laundry Sorter to join our hotel services team in Milwaukee. This is a routine, physically active role essential to maintaining the high standards of cleanliness and guest satisfaction at our esteemed hotel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately sorting linens, towels, and other laundry items, ensuring they are prepared for washing and delivered to the correct departments. Attention to detail and a strong work ethic are crucial for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately sort soiled linens, towels, and other fabric items by type, color, and degree of soil before washing.
- Inspect items for damage or stains, reporting findings to supervisors.
- Load laundry into commercial washing machines according to established procedures and weight limits.
- Assist with unloading washed items and transferring them to drying or pressing areas.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the laundry room.
- Adhere to all hotel safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Operate laundry equipment responsibly and report any malfunctions.
- Collaborate with other laundry and housekeeping team members to ensure a smooth workflow.
Required Skills
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and push/pull heavy laundry carts for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in sorting.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Basic communication skills in English.
- Reliability and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a hotel laundry, commercial laundry, or similar setting.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Familiarity with various fabric types and appropriate handling.
