Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Online UPS Specialist with a strong focus on Data Integrity to join our critical infrastructure team in Seattle. In this role, you will be responsible for the continuous monitoring, maintenance, and optimization of our Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, ensuring uninterrupted power delivery and the unwavering integrity of our data assets. You will be a key player in preventing data loss and corruption due to power fluctuations, working with advanced UPS technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold our demanding operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance, and emergency repairs on Online UPS systems and related power infrastructure.
  • Monitor UPS performance metrics, alarms, and logs to proactively identify and resolve potential issues.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for power-related incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of bypass systems, battery banks, and associated electrical components to guarantee seamless power transitions.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for UPS configurations, maintenance procedures, and incident reports.
  • Collaborate with data center operations, electrical engineering, and IT teams to plan and execute UPS upgrades and system expansions.
  • Implement best practices for data integrity protection related to power supply and power conditioning.
  • Participate in on-call rotations for critical power system support.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in UPS technology and power management solutions.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience with the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Online UPS systems (e.g., APC, Eaton, Vertiv, Schneider Electric).
  • Strong understanding of electrical power principles, including AC/DC circuits, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and technical diagrams.
  • Experience with battery management systems and battery testing procedures.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex power issues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, critical environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety protocols and procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications in electrical systems, power management, or data center operations (e.g., Uptime Institute, BICSI, CompTIA Data+).
  • Experience with DC power systems and generators.
  • Familiarity with data center environmental monitoring tools and building management systems (BMS).
  • Prior experience in a mission-critical data center environment.
