Job Description

The City of Midland, Texas, is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Trainee Weights & Measures Inspector. This entry-level position offers comprehensive training in the inspection, testing, and certification of commercial weighing and measuring devices used in trade and commerce across our city. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in conducting routine inspections of retail establishments, manufacturing facilities, and other businesses.
  • Document inspection findings, prepare reports, and maintain accurate records of compliance and non-compliance.
  • Observe and learn proper techniques for identifying and addressing violations of weights and measures standards.
  • Communicate effectively with business owners and managers regarding inspection results and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of measuring equipment and the impact of inaccuracies.
  • Collaborate with senior inspectors and other departmental staff to ensure consistent enforcement.
  • Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and departmental policies.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
