Job Description

Are you passionate about pets and eager to work in a dynamic, high-energy environment? Join PetSmart as a Dog Daycare Attendant in New Port Richey, FL! This role is perfect for individuals who thrive around animals, enjoy being active, and are committed to ensuring the safety and happiness of every dog in our care. You will be responsible for supervising dog playgroups, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and providing exceptional customer service to pet parents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise dog playgroups of various sizes and temperaments, ensuring a safe and positive environment for all pets.
  • Engage with dogs in play, provide comfort, and monitor behavior for any signs of stress, illness, or aggression.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of play areas, kennels, and all facility spaces, including cleaning up pet waste, spills, and general tidiness.
  • Feed and administer medication to dogs according to strict schedules and instructions.
  • Communicate effectively with pet parents regarding their dog's day, behavior, and any concerns.
  • Assist with check-in and check-out procedures for dogs, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
  • Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures.
  • Provide basic grooming tasks such as brushing and wiping paws as needed.

Required Skills

  • Genuine love for dogs and all animals.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and sometimes noisy environment.
  • Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs), and handle energetic dogs for extended periods.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience working with animals in a professional setting (e.g., vet clinic, animal shelter, pet sitting, dog daycare).
  • Knowledge of dog behavior, body language, and group dynamics.
  • Pet First Aid and CPR certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
