Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and community-focused School Lunchroom Monitor to join our team in Chapel Hill. This part-time role is essential for maintaining a safe, orderly, and positive environment during lunch periods, ensuring students have an enjoyable and structured mealtime experience. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and a genuine interest in supporting the well-being of school-aged children. This position plays a crucial role in fostering a positive school culture and promoting healthy eating habits among our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise students in the cafeteria and designated eating areas, ensuring a safe and respectful environment.
  • Monitor student behavior, enforce school rules, and address minor disciplinary issues appropriately, escalating serious concerns to teaching staff or administration.
  • Assist students with opening food containers, locating seating, and maintaining cleanliness.
  • Promote positive social interactions and model appropriate table manners.
  • Ensure students are aware of and follow proper waste disposal and recycling procedures.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or student concerns to the appropriate school personnel.
  • Collaborate with school staff to create a welcoming and inclusive lunchroom atmosphere.
  • Provide basic first aid for minor injuries, following school protocols, and summon professional medical help when necessary.

  • Previous experience working with school-aged children in a supervisory or group setting.
  • Familiarity with school policies and procedures.
  • Certification in First Aid and CPR.
