Job Description
Are you an experienced Solo Over-The-Road (OTR) Driver looking for a career that offers flexibility, consistent pay, and the opportunity to choose your own loads? JB Hunt is actively seeking professional and reliable Solo OTR Drivers to join our dynamic team in Kansas City. In this role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient transport of freight across long distances, ensuring timely deliveries and adherence to all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) for long-haul routes.
- Transport various types of freight to designated locations in a timely manner.
- Adhere strictly to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment, documenting any defects or issues.
- Maintain accurate electronic logbook (ELD) records and other necessary paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding load status, delays, and any operational concerns.
- Manage fuel efficiency and route planning to optimize delivery schedules.
- Secure cargo properly to prevent damage during transit.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable OTR driving experience.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and DOT physical.
- Strong understanding and adherence to DOT safety regulations.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Proven track record of safe driving practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with dry van and/or refrigerated freight.
- Familiarity with Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) and transportation management software.
- Hazmat (H) or Tanker (X) endorsement.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and adaptability.
