Job Description
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Tow Truck Operator to join our dynamic team in Houston. This role is crucial for providing timely and efficient roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, and transportation services. Operating on a 24/7 roster, you will respond to calls from various locations, assisting customers with breakdowns, accidents, and vehicle movements. The compensation package includes a competitive base salary plus commission, reflecting your dedication and performance in this demanding yet rewarding field.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate tow trucks and recovery equipment safely and efficiently to transport vehicles.
- Respond promptly to dispatch calls for roadside assistance, vehicle recovery, and impound services.
- Assess vehicle damage and choose appropriate towing methods.
- Secure vehicles for transport, ensuring no further damage during loading and transit.
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring clear communication and professional conduct at all times.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, mileage, and vehicle conditions.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of tow trucks and equipment.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and safety regulations.
- Handle payments and complete necessary paperwork for services rendered.
Required Skills
- Valid Class C (or higher, e.g., Class A/B CDL for heavy duty) Driver's License with a clean driving record.
- Minimum 1 year of professional tow truck operating experience.
- Proficiency in operating various types of tow trucks (wheel lift, flatbed, heavy-duty wreckers).
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Flexibility to work a 24/7 rotating roster, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL Class A or B endorsement.
- WreckMaster or similar towing and recovery certification.
- Familiarity with Houston area roadways and traffic patterns.
- Experience with minor roadside repairs (jump-starts, tire changes, fuel delivery).
