Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Natural Products Chemist with a strong focus on herbal and supplement raw materials and finished products. This is a 100% remote position where you will leverage your expertise to contribute to the research, development, and quality assurance of our diverse portfolio. You will be instrumental in analyzing natural ingredients, developing robust analytical methods, ensuring product safety and efficacy, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring innovative wellness solutions to market. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of botanical chemistry, phytochemistry, and the regulatory landscape for dietary supplements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development on natural ingredients, botanical extracts, and dietary supplements.
- Develop, optimize, and validate analytical methods (e.g., HPLC, GC-MS, ICP-MS) for the identification, quantification, and purity assessment of active compounds in raw materials and finished products.
- Perform routine and non-routine analysis of herbal and natural products to ensure compliance with internal specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Interpret complex analytical data, prepare detailed technical reports, and present findings to R&D, Quality Control, and Product Development teams.
- Collaborate with supply chain and quality assurance teams to evaluate new raw material suppliers and address quality deviations.
- Stay current with scientific literature, industry trends, and regulatory changes pertaining to natural products and dietary supplements.
- Participate in the design and execution of stability studies for new and existing products.
- Contribute to the development of product specifications, test methods, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Required Skills
- Ph.D. or Master's in Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Pharmacognosy, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 4 years of industrial experience in natural products chemistry, herbal supplements, or pharmaceutical R&D/QC.
- Proficiency in advanced analytical techniques, particularly HPLC, GC-MS, and other chromatographic and spectroscopic methods.
- Strong understanding of botanical chemistry, phytochemistry, and the analysis of complex natural matrices.
- Familiarity with cGMP, GLP, and relevant regulatory guidelines for dietary supplements (e.g., FDA 21 CFR Part 111).
- Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with method development and validation according to ICH or AOAC guidelines.
- Knowledge of natural product extraction, isolation, and purification techniques.
- Experience in formulating herbal and dietary supplements.
- Project management experience in a scientific R&D setting.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and optimize processes.
