Job Description
Join Labcorp, a global leader in clinical research, as a Clinical Trial Pharmacy Assistant with a strong focus on research and laboratory operations. In this vital role, you will support the efficient and compliant management of investigational medicinal products (IMPs) within our clinical trials. You will work closely with pharmacists, study coordinators, and laboratory personnel to ensure the accurate dispensing, storage, and accountability of study medications. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Documentation Practice (GDP), and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality in a research environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the receipt, storage, and inventory management of investigational medicinal products (IMPs) and ancillary supplies.
- Prepare and dispense IMPs according to study protocols, pharmacy procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all pharmacy activities, including dispensing logs, temperature monitoring, and accountability records.
- Conduct regular inventory reconciliation and assist with drug returns or destruction as per protocol.
- Support the clinical trial team by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of IMPs to research participants.
- Perform routine equipment maintenance and calibration, particularly for temperature-controlled storage units.
- Contribute to the maintenance of a clean and organized pharmacy and laboratory work environment.
- Assist with quality control checks and audits related to IMP handling and storage.
- Collaborate effectively with pharmacists, research nurses, study coordinators, and other laboratory staff.
- Participate in training and continuous professional development activities to stay current with regulations and best practices.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a science-related field preferred.
- Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification required, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a pharmacy setting, preferably within a hospital, retail, or clinical research environment.
- Proficiency in pharmaceutical calculations and basic drug knowledge.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Adherence to ethical guidelines and patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience specifically in clinical trial pharmacy operations or a research laboratory setting.
- Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and relevant FDA regulations.
- Experience with electronic pharmacy management systems.
- Ability to handle hazardous materials safely.
