Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Laboratory Instrumentation Technician to join our dynamic team in Cleveland, OH. In this critical role, you will be responsible for the calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of a wide range of laboratory instruments. This includes ensuring all equipment operates within specified parameters, meeting quality standards, and complying with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to precision. This position offers a tool allowance to ensure you have the necessary resources to perform your duties effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine calibration, preventive maintenance, and functional checks on various laboratory instruments (e.g., spectrophotometers, chromatographs, pH meters, centrifuges).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and software issues in laboratory equipment.
  • Execute repairs, replace faulty components, and restore instruments to optimal working condition.
  • Document all service, maintenance, and repair activities accurately in accordance with established procedures.
  • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of spare parts and tools, utilizing the provided tool allowance.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel to understand instrument performance issues and provide technical support.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, quality standards (e.g., ISO, GLP/GMP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to lab staff on proper instrument usage and basic maintenance.
  • Participate in the installation and qualification of new laboratory instrumentation.

Required Skills

  • Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics and technical manuals.
  • Experience with calibration techniques and tools.
  • Familiarity with various laboratory instrumentation types.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with lab personnel and vendors.
  • Basic computer skills for data entry and diagnostic software.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Biomedical Equipment Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Relevant industry certifications (e.g., certified instrument technician).
  • Experience in a regulated laboratory environment (e.g., pharmaceutical, clinical, environmental).
  • Knowledge of quality management systems (ISO 9001, GLP/GMP).
