Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Synthesis Chemist with a strong focus on organic chemistry to join our dynamic R&D team in New Port Richey, Florida. This critical role involves designing, executing, and optimizing multi-step organic synthesis reactions to create novel compounds for various applications. You will be instrumental in developing new synthetic routes, purifying and characterizing target molecules, and contributing to the advancement of our innovative product pipeline. Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute multi-step organic synthesis reactions, including the optimization of reaction conditions and work-up procedures.
  • Purify synthesized compounds using various techniques such as chromatography (flash, HPLC) and recrystallization.
  • Characterize compounds using a range of analytical techniques, including NMR, MS, IR, and elemental analysis.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate records of experimental procedures, observations, and results in electronic lab notebooks.
  • Analyze and interpret data, troubleshoot synthetic challenges, and propose solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of new synthetic methodologies and processes.
  • Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and contribute to scientific publications as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams, including analytical chemists, biologists, and engineers.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field; Master's degree with 3+ years of relevant industrial experience will also be considered.
  • Demonstrated expertise in modern organic synthesis techniques and reaction mechanisms.
  • Proficiency in the purification of organic compounds using various chromatographic methods.
  • Strong capabilities in spectroscopic characterization (NMR, MS, IR) and data interpretation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commitment to laboratory safety and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Postdoctoral experience in organic synthesis.
  • Experience with flow chemistry or automated synthesis platforms.
  • Knowledge of computational chemistry tools for reaction design and mechanism prediction.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical, agrochemical, or specialty chemical industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with regulatory guidelines relevant to chemical synthesis (e.g., cGMP).
