Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our dynamic team in York. In this role, you will be instrumental in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and performance of critical systems and services. You will work within a global team, implementing best practices for operational excellence, automation, and incident response. Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable, reliable, and high-performance infrastructure and services.
- Develop and implement automation tools and frameworks to streamline operational tasks and reduce manual intervention.
- Monitor system health, performance, and availability, proactively identifying and resolving issues.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide 24/7 support for critical production systems.
- Collaborate with development teams to ensure new features and services are designed with reliability in mind.
- Perform root cause analysis for incidents, implementing preventative measures and post-mortem best practices.
- Contribute to capacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies.
- Champion best practices for security, compliance, and data integrity.
- Mentor junior team members and contribute to a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Go, Bash).
- Extensive experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Strong understanding of Linux operating systems and networking fundamentals.
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps principles.
- Solid understanding of monitoring and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible).
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex distributed systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Google Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer).
- Experience with large-scale data storage and processing systems.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework or similar service management principles.
- Prior experience in a global team environment.
