Job Description
We are seeking dedicated and experienced Intermodal Truck Drivers for local port work based out of Oakland, CA. This is a fantastic opportunity for drivers looking for consistent, local routes, allowing you to be home every night with your family. You will be responsible for transporting intermodal containers to and from the Port of Oakland and customer locations within the immediate regional area. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a Class A commercial motor vehicle (CMV) to transport intermodal containers.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of truck and trailer, ensuring all components are in good working order.
- Adhere to all DOT regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Hook and unhook trailers, ensuring secure connections.
- Manage and complete all necessary paperwork, including logs, bills of lading, and delivery receipts.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and port personnel.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
- Ensure timely delivery and pick-up of containers to and from the Port of Oakland and various customer sites.
- Utilize electronic logging devices (ELDs) accurately.
- Inspect freight for damage and verify accuracy of cargo against shipping documents.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL-A).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable Class A driving experience.
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and no serious traffic violations in the past 3 years.
- Current DOT Medical Card.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
- TWIC card (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and ELD compliance.
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous intermodal or port experience.
- Hazmat endorsement.
- Experience with various chassis types.
- Familiarity with the Port of Oakland operations.
