Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and aspiring dental professional for an Endodontic & Periodontic Shadowing Intern position. This unique internship offers an invaluable opportunity to gain firsthand clinical exposure in specialized dental fields. The intern will observe advanced procedures, learn about patient care protocols, and understand the day-to-day operations of a leading dental specialty practice. This on-site role is designed for individuals eager to deepen their understanding of endodontics (root canals) and periodontics (gum health and disease) before pursuing further dental education, providing direct mentorship and insights into complex dental treatments.
Key Responsibilities
- Observe endodontic and periodontic procedures, including initial consultations, diagnoses, and treatment phases.
- Learn about patient intake processes, detailed dental charting, and accurate record-keeping.
- Assist clinical staff with room setup and breakdown, ensuring strict adherence to sterilization and infection control protocols.
- Shadow our experienced dental assistants and hygienists to understand their vital roles in patient care and practice management.
- Participate in educational discussions with specialists and team members to enhance clinical knowledge.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality and uphold the highest standards of professional conduct at all times.
- Observe post-operative care instructions and patient education techniques to support comprehensive recovery.
Required Skills
- Demonstrated strong interest in pursuing a career in dentistry, particularly within the specialties of endodontics or periodontics.
- Exceptional observation and active listening skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities, suitable for a clinical environment.

- Ability to quickly learn and adapt in a dynamic and fast-paced clinical setting.
- Basic understanding of medical and dental terminology is advantageous.
Preferred Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in a pre-dental undergraduate program or recently graduated with a relevant science degree.
- Previous shadowing or volunteer experience in any healthcare or dental setting.
- Current CPR/BLS certification.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and patient privacy standards.
