Job Description
FedEx Ground is seeking motivated and professional Independent Couriers with their own cargo vans to partner with us in the Charleston area. This is an exceptional opportunity for self-starters who are ready to manage their own routes, maintain high service standards, and grow their business within our established and expanding network. As an independent contractor, you’ll operate your own business, determining your schedule while benefiting from consistent volume and the support of a global logistics leader. We are looking for individuals dedicated to timely and secure package delivery, ensuring customer satisfaction with every stop.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport packages along designated routes using your own cargo van.
- Ensure timely pick-up and delivery of packages to businesses and residential customers.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries and pick-ups.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and safety regulations.
- Provide excellent customer service during all interactions.
- Manage and maintain your cargo van in excellent working condition.
- Utilize provided scanning equipment and follow operational procedures.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ownership of a reliable cargo van (e.g., Sprinter, Transit, ProMaster) in good condition.
- Proof of commercial vehicle insurance.
- Ability to lift and move packages up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Strong time management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
- Reliability and a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as an independent courier or delivery driver.
- Familiarity with the Charleston, South Carolina geographical area.
- Ability to adapt to changing route conditions and delivery schedules.
- Experience with handheld scanning devices.
