Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Assistant to join our team at Sunrise Senior Living in Glendale, CA. As a Resident Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing direct care and support to our residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. This position involves assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), promoting their independence, and engaging them in meaningful activities. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Support residents with mobility, transfers, and escorting to meals and activities.
  • Administer medication reminders as per community policy and state regulations.
  • Monitor and record residents' vital signs, input, and output, and document observations accurately.
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and healthcare professionals regarding resident status and needs.
  • Respond promptly to resident calls and emergencies, providing appropriate assistance or seeking further support.
  • Assist with light housekeeping tasks in resident rooms and common areas to maintain a clean and safe environment.
  • Engage residents in social activities, conversations, and promote a positive atmosphere.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Report any changes in a resident's condition or behavior to the nursing staff immediately.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a compassionate, patient demeanor.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Basic understanding of senior care principles and the aging process.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in an assisted living, long-term care, or healthcare setting.
  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Medical Assistant (MA).
  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of medication assistance procedures.
